Understand Yieldly’s data sources, trailing dividend yield calculation, update dates, and research limitations.
Where the data comes from
Yieldly’s US data pipeline uses Massive for market prices, reference information, and dividend records. Its Indian corporate-action pipeline uses NSE corporate actions. Public pages are generated from Yieldly’s stored market-data snapshots. A provider is a source, not an endorsement of Yieldly.
How trailing yield is calculated
Trailing yield is the recorded per-share dividend total for the preceding 12 months, divided by the reference share price, multiplied by 100. The current data pipeline selects dividend records by ex-dividend date. This can differ from calculations based on payment dates or a forward annualized payment.
Example: $4 in recorded dividends ÷ $100 reference price × 100 = 4%. The result describes recorded distributions relative to price; it is not a promise of future income.
Dates and freshness
The “Data updated” date on a stock page is its calculation snapshot date, not a live quote timestamp. Website publishing is scheduled for weekday evenings in America/New_York. Provider delays, market holidays, or unsuccessful updates can leave an older snapshot visible. Always check the displayed date.
Regular dividends, special payouts, and funds
The public snapshot does not independently classify every distribution as regular, special, capital gains, or return of capital. Recorded totals can include unusual payments. An ETF distribution is not necessarily comparable to a company’s recurring cash dividend. Confirm composition and tax treatment with the issuer; do not infer a sustainable forward yield from the trailing total.
History and missing information
Stock pages show up to 12 recent recorded or announced distributions from the available five-year window. A missing date means it is unavailable in this snapshot; it does not establish that no payment exists. An unannounced next dividend is never estimated as an announced event. Corporate actions, split adjustments, currency differences, and revisions can affect comparisons.
Research coverage
Featured lists focus on major US and Indian indexes, selected REITs, dividend ETFs, and sectors. They are subsets of coverage, not complete constituent lists or investment recommendations. Older stock URLs may remain available while coverage is reviewed. Lists rank trailing yield and may omit securities that lack usable dividend history.
